Repub. Korean Kongkae Taeho Kongbo KR 2003078257 A 8 Oct 2003, No pp. given (Korean). (Korea, Republic Of). CODEN: KRXXA7. CLASS: ICM: C12N001-20. APPLICATION: KR 2002-17167 28 Mar 2002. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) A method for controlling pathogenic plant disease using Bacillus thuringiensis is provided, thereby effectively controlling pathogenic microorganisms without causing environmental problems. A method for controlling pathogenic plant disease comprises using Bacillus thuringiensis, and an ext. and the cultured medium thereof, wherein the Bacillus thuringiensis has aiiA homolog gene encoding enzyme decompg. AHL (acylated homoserine lactone); and the AHL contains OHHL (N-b-oxo-hexanoyl-L-homoserine lactone), OOHL (N-b-oxo-octanoyl-L-homoserine lactone), ODHL (N-b-oxo-decanoyl-L-homoserine lactone), HHL (N-hexanoyl-L-homoserine lactone) and BHL (N-butanoyl-L-homoserine lactone). A compn. for controlling pathogenic plant disease comprises Bacillus thuringiensis, and an ext. and the cultured medium thereof.Except for chemicals metioned above, 67605-85-0 is also used. .

Conway, Barbara-Ann D.; Venu, Vicnays; Speert, David P. ( Department of Paediatrics, BC Research Institute for Children's and Women's Health, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC V5Z 4H4, Can.). Journal of Bacteriology, 184(20), 5678-5685 (English) 2002 American Society for Microbiology. CODEN: JOBAAY. ISSN: 0021-9193. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 10 (Microbial, Algal, and Fungal Biochemistry) Acyl homoserine lactone (acyl-HSL)-mediated gene regulation has been shown to influence biofilm formation in one Burkholderia cepacia cystic fibrosis isolate, but it is not known whether this relationship is a consistent feature of the several genomic species that make up the B. cepacia complex (BCC). We screened strains belonging to genomovars I to V of the BCC for biofilm formation on an abiotic surface and for acyl-HSL synthesis. We detd. that organisms from each of these genomovars were capable of biofilm formation. Similarly, acyl-HSL was synthesized by organisms from each of genomovars I to V, with most isolates producing octanoyl-HSL in greatest abundance. When biofilms were grown in Luria broth, acyl-HSL synthesis and biofilm formation appeared to be assocd., but these phenotypes were independent when the biofilms were grown in basal salts contg.Except for chemicals metioned above, 67605-85-0 is also used. citrate. Genomovar V strains synthesized the greatest quantities of acyl-HSL, and genomovar II and III-A strains elaborated the most abundant biofilms. Quorum sensing may play a role in BCC pathogenesis, but it may not regulate biofilm formation under all growth conditions. ..
