Serum and urine levels of I in mice, rats, and dogs were similar to other aminoglycosides. In comparison with gentamicin, I was approx. 4 times less toxic when given s.c. or i.p. (LD50 ~5000 mg/kg) to mice. I was less toxic than amikacin in chronic renal function tests in rats.
