C-deuterated b-cyclodextrin (CD) hydrate (b-CD-2,3,6,6-d28×11H2O) (I) and O-deuterated b-CD hydrate (b-CDd21×11H2O-d22) (II) were measured in the temp. range of 160-295 K at 46 MHz. Information about the degree and time scales of dynamic disorder processes was obtained by comparing the powder patterns with computer simulations and analyzing the multi-exponential recovery curves. The data on I provide evidence for small-angle reorientations of the C-D groups with a correlation times tcx10-7 s at 295 K and suggest that the b-CD macrocycles do not move as a rigid entity. The NMR responses of II at 295 K show 2 components and are consistent with the hydroxyl O-D groups undergoing 2-fold reorientational jumps with tc x10-8 s and with the water mols. exchanging between all sites and a significant fraction performing reorientational jumps with tcx10-8 s. Below 235 K, 33 components were evident: 2 were assocd. with slow reorientations (tcx10-4 s at 160 K) of hydroxyl and water O-D groups, and the 3rd with a small no. of water mols. for which rapid reorientations (tc<10-7 s) persist at 160 K.In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 68168-23-0 These dynamic features were considered in terms of the known structure and the findings of other techniques. These results suggested that the reorientation jumps of the hydroxyls and water mols. are slower than previously thought. .
