Thus, 2-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine was treated with AlCl3 to yield I (R = Cl, R1 = R2 = H), and the latter was hydrolyzed in H2SO4 at 110-20° to give II (R = Cl, R1 = R2 = H). .
