- Metabolic effects of pent-4-enoate in isolated perfused rat heart. Hiltunen, J. Kalervo (Dep. Med. Biochem., Univ. Oulu, Oulu, Finland). Biochem. J., 170(2), 241-7 (English) 1978. CODEN: BIJOAK. ISSN: 0006-2936. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 3 (Biochemical Interactions) Addn. of pent-4-enoic acid (I) [591-80-0] (0.8 mM) to the perfusion fluid increased O consumption in rat isolated K-arrested and beating hearts by 76 and 14%, resp. The concn. ratio of phosphocreatine [67-07-2]/creatine [57-00-1] increased concomitantly by 47 and 27%, resp. I increased the concn. of the pool of tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediates 30-fold, ~90% of this increase being due to malate [6915-15-7]. The total myocardial free amino acids remained unchanged during this accumulation. Therefore, I can be effectively metabolized in the myocardium, probably via propionyl CoA.

APPLICATION: JP 72-1449 29 Dec 1971. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) Section cross-reference(s): 55 Two-package primers consisted of a main compn. contg. poly(vinyl butyral) (I) 8, phenolic resin 2, chromate 5, micaceous iron oxide 10, and alc. ~75 parts and an additive compn. contg. tannic acid (II) 5-10, oxalic acid (III) [144-62-7], citric acid [77-92-9], malic acid [6915-15-7], or sulfamic acid [5329-14-6] 5-10, water ~15, and alc. ~70 parts. For example, a main compn. was prepd. from I 8, Plyophen J320 (phenolic resin) [66770-72-7] 2, Zn chromate 5, micaceous iron oxide 10, EtOH 60, BuOH 10, and cyclohexanol 5 parts, and an additive compn. from II 5, I 10, water 15, and EtOH 70 parts. The main compn. was mixed with the additive compn. in 8:2 ratio, spray-coated on a brush-derusted steel to give a 20 m-thick coating with good adhesion, corrosion and weather resistance, and topping receptance.
