(HPLC) was developed. Morantel citrate in formula feed was extd. with water-methanol-acetic acid (:1) and purified with C18 cartridge. Morantel citrate was sepd. using YMC-Pack ODS-AM (6.0 mm i.d. x 150 mm, 5 mm) column, and using phosphoric acid buffer soln.-acetonitrile (4:1) as mobile phase. Morantel citrate was detected by using HPLC with a UV detector at 320 nm. The mean recoveries of morantel citrate from 3 kinds of formula feeds added at 15, 30 and 45 g/ton were 91.6 ~ 103.5%, and relative std. deviations (RSD) were within 4.8%. A collaborative study was conducted to evaluate the method for morantel citrate in 2 kinds of formula feeds (mash and crumble) added at 30 g/ton in 9 labs. The mean quant. value of mash formula feed was 29.8 g/ton (99.2%), and the repeatability and reproducibility as the relative std. deviation (RSDr and RSDR) were 3.5% and 4.6% resp. As for crumble formula feed, they were 26.3 g/ton (87.5%), 1.5% and 4.5% resp. .
