Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by acetic acid anhydride and methyl 2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-a-L-arabinofuranoside. This reaction will need reagent H₂SO₄ conc. and solvent acetic acid. The reaction time is 4 hours. The yield is about 95%.

Uses of 1-O-Acetyl-2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-beta-D-ribofuranose: it can be used to produce 5-methyl-1-(tri-O-benzoyl-a-L-arabinofuranosyl)-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione by heating. This reaction will need reagent Me₃SiNHSiMe₃, Me₃SiCl, SnCl₄ and solvent acetonitrile with reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 60%.
