Alkali-aggregate reactions in mortars with andesitic and dolomitic granules
All Rights Reserved. Alkali-aggregate reactions in mortars with andesitic and dolomitic granules. Georgescu, Maria; Voicu, Georgeta; Stoleriu, Stefania; Poteras, George (Faculte de Chimie Industrielle, Universite ?Politehnica? de Bucarest, Rom.). Revue Roumaine de Chimie, Volume Date 2005, 50(11-12), 929-937 (French) 2006 Editura Academiei Romane. CODEN: RRCHAX. ISSN: 0035-3930. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 58 (Cement, Concrete, and Related Building Materials) The alkali-aggregate reactions accompanied by expansion represent an important factor for the durability of concrete. To develop such reactions, the existence of some factors such as the presence of some reactive compds. in the aggregate, certain content of alkali in the liq. phase of the concrete and the presence of the humid environment, is necessary. Because this latter factor is very important for the expansion by alkali-aggregate reactions, with a neg. influence on the concrete durability, the potential of the reactivity must be controlled esp. for the aggregate destined for hydrotech. concrete. Depending on the aggregate nature, the alkali-aggregate reactions can be: alkali-silica reactions, alkali-silicate reactions and alkali-carbonate reactions. We bring information about the alkali-silica reaction and alkali-carbonate reaction, in mortars prepd. with andesitic aggregate and dolomitic aggregate, resp. The investigations were made using mortars resulted from bars used for expansion detns., after 12 mo and 18 mo, resp. For these investigations, methods such as: x-ray diffraction, thermo-gravimetric anal. and electro-microscopic anal., were used.Except for chemicals metioned above, 7000-29-5 and 16389-88-1 are also used. .
