Efficacy of two pyrethroids on Zeuzera pyrina L
Efficacy of two pyrethroids on Zeuzera pyrina L., Laspeyresia pomonella L. and its secondary effect on Panonychus ulmi Koch. Arias, A.; Nieto, J. (Serv. Defensa Plagas Inspec. Fitopatol., Spain). An. Inst. Nac. Invest. Agrar., Ser.: Agric. (Spain), 24, 251-66 (Spanish) 1983. CODEN: AIAADR. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Deltamethrin [52918-63-5] was applied to apple trees once every 2, 3 and 4 wk, and flucythrinate [70124-77-5] every 3 wk from the onset of the seasonal attack by first instar larvae of Z. pyrina, to the final flights of adults. All the applications reduced larvae and adult populations of Zeuzera as compared to the control. The efficacy was good even in the least effective application: deltamethrin applied every 4 wk. The efficiency of these applications on L. pomonella was not sufficient, even in the best result. With treatment at the end of July, the P. ulmi populations per leaf were significantly higher in all treatments with deltamethrin than in the control at the end of August; the winter oviposition was also significantly higher in the treatments with deltamethrin every 2 and 3 wk and in the treatments with flucythrinate every 3 wk, than in the control.
Residual toxicity of six insecticides and a herbicide applied sequentially or in tank mix combinations on tobacco seedlings against darksided cutworm (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae)
Residual toxicity of six insecticides and a herbicide applied sequentially or in tank mix combinations on tobacco seedlings against darksided cutworm (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae). Cheng, H. H.; Hanlon, J. J. (Res. Stn., Agric. Canada, Delhi, ON N4B 2W9, Can.). Tob. Int., 186(22), 39-42 (English) 1984. CODEN: TBCIAE. ISSN: 0049-3945. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) A herbicide, diphenamid [957-51-7], and each of 6 insecticides, cyfluthrin [68359-37-5], cypermethrin [52315-07-8], deltamethrin [52918-63-5], flucythrinate [70124-77-5], permethrin [52645-53-1] and acephate [30560-19-1], were applied sequentially or in tank-mixed combinations on tobacco seedlings after transplanting to evaluate their toxicity and residual activity against the darksided cutworm, Euxoa messoria, in Ontario. Although climatic conditions varied widely during 1979 to 1982, results obtained from the leaf bioassay tests were consistent in toxicity and residual activity of all the treatments. For the same material, there was no significant difference in residual toxicity between the insecticide-diphenamid tank mixt. and diphenamid and the insecticide applied sequentially. Acephate deposits on tobacco leaves were as toxic to the cutworm larvae as the pyrethroids, but were much more persistent. All the pyrethroid insecticides were similar in effectiveness and residual toxicity at the rates applied. There was no measurable cutworm mortality from the leaves treated with diphenamid alone.
