None of the chem. affected longer-term regrowth or botanical compn. of the treated pastures. The most promising PGR was Na sesqui salt of glyphosate (MON 8000)(Polado) [70393-85-0]. When Polado was applied at an optimal rate of 100 g/ha, it inhibited pasture maturation during Nov., producing a ration with higher digestibility and markedly superior levels of pasture sol. sugars relative to untreated pasture. MON 8000 could be used to manipulate spring pasture set aside for conservation as high quality silage, and high levels of sol. sugars would be esp. advantageous.
