DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 34 (Amino Acids, Peptides, and Proteins) Section cross-reference(s): 24 1-Aminocyclopropanecarboxylic acid (I) was prepd. by treating Br(CH2)nBr (II, n = 2) with Ph2C:NCH2CN (III) in 50% aq. NaOH/toluene contg. PhCH2N+Et3 Cl- and hydrolyzing the resulting nitrile IV by HCl. Cycloleucine (V) was prepd. similarly from II (n = 4) and III. II (n = 3) was treated with III in 50% aq. NaOH/toluene contg. PhCH2N+Et3 Cl- to give Ph2C:NCH(CN)(CH2)3CH(CN)N:CPh2, which was hydrolyzed by aq. HCl to give 2,6-diaminopimelic acid, H2NCH(CO2H)(CH2)3CH(NH2)CO2H. .
