DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) The effect of com. photostabilizers 2-hydroxy-4-octoxybentophemone (UV-531) [1843-05-6], phenolic Ni complex UV-1084 [14516-71-3], and hindered amine Chimasorb 944 [71878-19-8] on the weathering resistance of linear low-d. polyethylene [9002-88-4] film was studied. The photostabilized films under Florida weather conditions remained unchanged for 33 mo vs. 4-5 mo for unstabilized films. The highest weathering resistance was obtained for films stabilized with 0.75-1% Chimasorb 944.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 40 (Textiles) Of five hindered amine light stabilizers studied I [71878-19-8] and (II) [90751-07-8] gave the best results on multifilament polypropylene yarns because of their low volatility and good thermal stability necessary in fibers with high surface area and high processing temps. The oligomeric stabilizers had good compatibility with the fibers and good extn. resistance, thus showing good stability in laundering or dry cleaning. Other stabilizers included were HALS1 [52829-07-9], HALS2 [70198-29-7], and HALS3 [71878-19-8].
