DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 26 (Biomolecules and Their Synthetic Analogs) Stereoselective macrocyclization of aldehydoallylic bromide I with CrCl2 allows a convenient synthesis of the 14-membered cembranoid antitumor agent asperdiol (II). The 2 asym. centers created by the cyclization are remotely controlled (1,6-asymmetric induction) to the extent of 4:1 by the distant epoxide function to yield the 4 chiral centers of II. .
