Karger: Basel, Switz. (English) 1986. CODEN: 55JXAA. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 15 Pyrimidinone (PY) [1335-05-3] augmented natural killer (NK) activity in various body compartments and induced the cytotoxic potential in NK-functionally inert young mice. In parallel with NK augmentation, PY induced antitumor activity against mammary adenocarcinoma in vivo. Studies on the mechanism of in vivo induced antitumor activity demonstrated that NK cells are one of the components mediating antitumor effect. In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 56741-95-8 and 1335-05-3 2-Amino-5-iodo-6-phenyl-4-pyrimidinol (AIPP) [72943-43-2] also may be of therapeutic value in cancer, esp. after regional administration. Ability of this mol. to potentiate NK activity in lung and liver, tissues of high metastatic propensity, indicates relevance of AIPP therapy against disseminated cancer. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Maleic anhydride-divinyl ether (MVE-2) [27100-68-1] and the pyrimidinone compds. 2-amino-5-bromo-6-phenyl-4-pyrimidinone (ABPP) [56741-95-8] and 2-amino-5-iodo-6-phenyl-4-pyrimidinone (AIPP) [72943-43-2] are potent macrophage-activating and natural killer cell-stimulating agents. All 3 agents induce in mice appreciable antimetastatic activity against 2 syngeneic fibrosarcomas and a mammary carcinoma. The effect was obsd. against both artificially-induced and spontaneously-developed lung metastases. Presence of the primary tumor did not decrease the antimetastatic effect of these agents but, rather, it augmented it. In spontaneous metastases, a better effect was achieved when MVE-2, ABPP, or AIPP was given before rather than after surgical removal of the primary tumor. In addn., MVE-2 and the pyrimidinone compds. were capable of protecting against metastasis-promoting effects of local thoracic irradn. and cyclophosphamide. .
