DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) The title Li soap grease is formed by thickening a lubricating base oil with a Li salt of a high-mol.-wt. fatty acid (e.g., stearic acid, castor oil, or 12-hydroxystearic acid), and N-substituted terephthalamic acid ester (i.e., Me N-octadecylterephthalamate (I) [7333-86-0]) to increase the dropping point. The Li soap grease has a high dropping point, excellent thermal stability, and high quality. Thus, SAE20 VI100 (mineral oil), castor oil, I, LiOH, and water were mixed; SAE20 VI100 (mineral oil) was then added and the mixt. was deaerated, dehydrated by heating, and cooled. Arom. amine was added to the mixt. to give the Li soap grease.
