Pyrimidine II was obtained in 67% yield by reaction of 4-pyridinecarboxamidine with 2-(1-piperidinylmethyl)acrylonitrile. .

Chem. shifts calcd. by the additivity relation agree with exptl. values except for hindered pyrimidines. The 13C NMR spectra of some trisubstituted pyrimidines were assigned. .
