- Catalytic activity of platinum antitumor compounds
- Catalytic activity of platinum antitumor compounds. Turkevich, John; Miner, Robert S., Jr. (Chem. Dep., Princeton Univ., Princeton, NJ 08544, USA). J. 58-61-7 and 7722-84-1 are cas registry numbers. These chemicals are also mentioned in this article. Clin. Hematol. Oncol., 13(3), 65-72 (English) 1983. CODEN: JCHODP. ISSN: 0162-9360. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Derivs. of therapeutically active platinum compds. react at 40° with nucleic bases to produce sol. complexes which are active catalysts for the decompn. of H2O2. Furthermore, the therapeutically inactive trans-diamminodichloroplatinum (II) [14913-33-8] isomer give complexes that lack such catalytic activity. This activity is most marked with cytosine and less so with thymine, guanine, and uracil. Adenine complexes in all cases examd. show negligible activity for H2O2 decompn. 74006-35-2 which is the cas registry number of some chemical is mentioned. Similar behavior was found in reactions of active drugs with the corresponding nucleosides. This suggests that platinum compds. may be screened in vitro to det. therapeutic activity. Furthermore, the results support the hypothesis that a redox activity may be important in the therapeutic action of the platinum drug in the living cell. ..
