DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The ability of psychostimulants (sydnocarb [34262-84-5], amphetamine [300-62-9], caffeine [58-08-2], acephen [3685-84-5], piracetam [7491-74-9], or euclidan [1641-74-3]) to improve the learning ability of rats being trained in a T-maze or in a Dombrovskaya maze depended more upon problem complexity than upon the type of problem. Moreover, innate differences in emotionality were of greater importance than differences in inquisitiveness in affecting the training-facilitating effects of these drugs. Thus, in animals tending to respond to stress in a passive manner, sydnocarb and amphetamine enhanced learning ability by abolishing the passive response. .
