MeOH is used as the titrn. solvent, a high neg. error being obtained in aq. solns. due to the dissocn. of the acetic acid formed. The results are more accurate with AgOAc than with Hg(OAc)2. Ethanethiol in amts. of 7-34 mmol was detd. with AgOAc soln. of a concn. of 5 mmol/L with an error not exceeding 2%.
