Thus, a mixt. of 47.5 parts I [Q = C(CN)CONH2](III) [25621-88-9] and 2.5 parts II (R = CONHMe, R1 = H) [76199-85-4] was milled for 4 h to particle size ￡0.1 m, the greenish yellow powder mixed with 500 parts PhOH, heated at 110° for 10 h, cooled to 70°, dild. with 100 parts MeOH, filtered, washed, and dried to give 47 parts pigment which, when incorporated in baking enamel, produced dyeings with much higher color strength and covering power than did III alone.

CaCl2 (36 parts) was added, and the dispersion was heated to 40°, treated slowly with 750 parts 10% Na rosin soap soln. while maintaining pH 5-7 by addn. of HCl, stirred 1 h, filtered, washed with H2O, dried, and milled to obtain 300 parts neutral yellow powder easily dispersible in offset varnish and in plastics.
