- Effect of additives of chromate, molybdate, and tungstate anions on the combined electrodeposition of nickel and iron from a weakly acidic electrolyte. Kuzmickas, O.; Bubelis, J. (USSR). Issled. Obl. Osazhdeniya Met., Mater. Resp. Konf. Elektrokhim. Lit. SSR, 19th, 203-8. Akad. Nauk Lit. SSR, Inst. Khim. Khim. Tekhnol.: Vilnius, USSR. (Russian) 1983. CODEN: 51DBAM. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 72 (Electrochemistry) The effect was studied of adding Na2CrO4 [7775-11-3], Na2WO4 [13472-45-2], and Na2MoO4 [7631-95-0] to a stabilized electroplating bath for Ni and Fe contg.: NiSO4 0.356, NiCl2 0.421, FeSO4 0. 1333-74-0 and 7775-11-3 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here.06, H3BO3 0.647, and saccharin 0.01 mol/L. The electrolysis was conducted at pH 4.5, 50° and cathodic c.d. 2 A/dm2. For comparison, the addn. of KI [7681-11-0] was also studied. In the simultaneous electrodeposition of Ni and Fe from a sulfate-chloride bath in the absence of ligands at the above conditions, an anomalous deposition of Fe is obsd. which results from the formation in the catholyte of partial hydrolysis products of Fe2+, capable of being reduced at a more pos. potential than that of Fe2+/Fe. The use of the chromate, molybdate and tungstate additives affects the redn. of Fe(II) by the absorption of their partial redn. products, as well as MoO42- and WO42-. .

- Study of the thermodynamics of sodium molybdate vaporization. Ermilova, I. O.; Kazenas, E. K.; Zviadadze, G. N. (Inst. Metall. im. Baikova, Moscow, USSR). Zh. Fiz. Khim., 50(8), 2172-3 (Russian) 1976. CODEN: ZFKHA9. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 69 (Thermodynamics, Thermochemistry, and Thermal Properties) Section cross-reference(s): 65 The compn. of the vapor phase and equil. pressure over liq. and solid Na2MoO4 [7631-95-0] were detd. by high-temp. mass spectrometry at T = 1050-1300.degree.K. The evapn. proceeds as Na2MoO4(s,1) .fwdarw. Na2MoO4(g). The temp. dependence of the partial pressure of gaseous Na2MoO4 was correlated by the equation ln p(torr) = -33,390/T + 22.18. The heat of vaporization of Na2MoO4 is 66.1 .+-. 3.6 kcal/mole. The results agree well with those obtained by the effusion method.
