The ferritic steel is used as cladding for reactor fuel rods or for other irradiated structural parts. The small particles of irradiated steel are removed from the soln. by sieving or by using magnets. The soln. is vibrated by using ultrasound, and is heated to 40-90°. Three typical compns. of ferritic steel contg.: C 0.05-0.2, Cr 10.5-12, Fe 80-88, Mn 0.5-0.8, Mo 0.9-6, Si 0.3-0.4, V 0.2-0.4, and W 0-0.5 wt.%, were used.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 10 Bisulfon [89000-24-8], which contains NaHSO4 as the major component and kieselguhr, Na2SO4, and oxalic acid [144-62-7], was bactericidal to both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. A 0.5-10% aq. soln. of NaHSO4 was also bacterial to vegetative forms of the microorganism within 5-30 min. In a related study, oxalic acid enhanced the bactericidal activity of NaHSO4. Bisulfon (3-10%) was bactericidal to E. coli and S. aureus in presence of 20% inactivated serum. Org. impurities affected the microbicidal activity of Bisulfon insignificantly. Bisulfon may be used as a disinfectant. .
