The percent retention values of 128I [14391-72-1] obtained upon irradn. at 77 K are higher. The yields of radioactive iodates and periodates decrease whereas that of iodides increase with increase in nitrite concn. A suitable mechanism is suggested to explain the results.Except for chemicals metioned above, 7758-05-6 and 7681-55-2 are also used. .

The degree of discoloration of the test piece was less than that of I contg. no II. .
