DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Three water-sol. components, Dan Shen Su (I) [76822-21-4], protocatechuic aldehyde (II) [139-85-5] and protocatechuic acid (III) [99-50-3] in Salvia miltiorrhiza injections were chromatographed on a silica gel G plate using CHCl3-EtOAc-C6H6-HCO2H (5:6:3:1) as developing solvent by TLC densitometric scanning. Calibration graphs were linear in the range 4-18 mg for I, 1-8 mg for II and 1-6 mg for III. Nine Salvia miltiorrhiza injections and 3 compds. were analyzed at 280 nm (400 nm as ref. wavelength). The recoveries were 99.6-99.9% and the variation coeffs. were 3-5%. The range of contents (mg/mL) was 4.78-10.2 for I, 0.638-1.32 for II and 0.144-0.261 for III.Except for chemicals metioned above, 99-50-3 and 139-85-5 are also used. .
