CODEN: IIZAAX. ISSN: 0021-3284. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Seven male Wistar rats with permanently implanted EEG electrodes were used. After a 24-h polygraph recording following i.p. injection of the DL-6-fluorotryptophan (I) [7730-20-3] vehicle, 100 mg/kg of I was i.p. administered and the polygraph recording was made continuously for 48 h. The total sleep (TS) time and slow-wave sleep (SWS) time during a 2-h period and the paradoxical sleep (PS) time during a 3-h period after I administration decreased and the wakefulness (WAK) time during a 3-h period after I administration increased as compared with controls. During a 12-h period after I administration, there were differences in TS and PS times between the I-treated group and the control, but not in SWS between both groups. However, the cumulative time of either TS, SWS, or PS during a 24-h period after I administration was not different from the controls. No abnormal behavior was obsd. during the state of WAK after I administration.
