Those 6 chem. were CCl4 [56-23-5], CHCl3 [67-66-3], C2H2Cl4 [25322-20-7], Na2CrO4 [7775-11-3], HgCl2 [7487-94-7], and ceporan (I) [50-59-9]. The trypan blue exclusion test was simple and rapid but was insensitive. GOT and LDH activities in supernatants were elevated after exposure of hepatocytes to CCl4, CHCl3, and C2H2Cl4 but were suppressed after exposure of hepatocytes to Na2CrO4, HgCl2, and I; such suppression was not reported before. Enzyme histochem. was both sensitive and useful for studying the mode of action of toxicants. .
