Deposition of elemental selenium in various parts of organs from rats given toxic doses of sodium biselenite
Deposition of elemental selenium in various parts of organs from rats given toxic doses of sodium biselenite. Schoental, Regina; Van Dorst, Sheila (R. Vet. Coll., Univ. London, London NW1 0TU, UK). Biochem. Soc.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 7782-49-2 and 7782-82-3 are used here. Trans., 11(6), 782 (English) 1983. CODEN: BCSTB5. ISSN: 0300-5127. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Rats treated orally or topically with NaHSeO3 (20 mg/L and 20 mg/mL, resp.) and then given NaHSeO3 intragastrically in increasing doses until death showed areas of high Se levels in the stomach, liver, and skin at autopsy. Adjacent areas of the same organs (lacking the brick-red color assocd. with Se) did not show the high Se concns. The Se content of the red part of 1 liver was ~7 times that in other parts of the same liver. .
