Antiplaque properties of sustained-release stannous fluoride: pilot studies
Antiplaque properties of sustained-release stannous fluoride: pilot studies. Swanson, T. D.; Tinanoff, N. (Dep. Pediatric Dent. 7783-47-3 is the cas registry number. This chemical is also mentioned in this article., Univ. Connecticut, Farmington, CT 06032, USA). J. Oral Rehabil., 11(1), 53-63 (English) 1984. CODEN: JORHBY. ISSN: 0305-182X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The antiplaque property of 70% SnF2 in Durelon (polycarboxylate cement) was tested. A 30-day trial in patients in which this fluoride cement was used as a temporary intracoronal restoration, produced elevated salivary F- levels with only transient elevation in urinary F- levels. Scores decreased during the exptl. period, suggesting that the released SnF2 affected bacterial growth or attachment. The cement was an adequate temporary restorative material without significant side effects. .
Effect of sodium fluoride and stannous fluoride in drinking water on hamster dental caries
Effect of sodium fluoride and stannous fluoride in drinking water on hamster dental caries. Tinanoff, N.; Camosci, D. A. (Sch. Dent. Med., Univ. Connecticut, Farmington, CT 06032, USA). Caries Res., 18(1), 71-3 (English) 1984. CODEN: CAREBK. ISSN: 0008-6568. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Syrian hamsters innoculated with 0. 7783-47-3 and 16984-48-8 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here.2 mL of a streptomycin-resistant culture of Streptococcus mutans received 5 ppm F- in their drinking water as NaF or SnF2 for 64 days. However, the 2 F- groups were not statistically different from each other. The redn. of enamel and dentinal caries in both the NaF and SnF2 groups was significantly different compared to hamster receiving only water. The no. of recoverable S. mutans from the excised teeth varied greatly even among animals in the same group and there was no significant difference in this parameter between the groups. These results do not confirm earlier findings that SnF2 is more effective than NaF in inhibiting caries in rodents, nor do they 1demonstrate any antiplague effect of these F- compds. .
