DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) CG-120 [55049-48-4] (orally) was given to healthy volunteers for 5 days at 1 g or 3 g thrice daily (tid) or 1 g four times daily (qid).Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 69-93-2 and 77-92-9 are used here. The drug increased plasma and urine citrate [77-92-9] and alkalinized the urine. The drug did not change the oxalate [144-62-7] excretion or concn. There were tendencies toward a slight decrease in the urinary excretions and concns. of Ca2+ and Mg2+, without altering serum Ca2+ and Mg2+, and toward a slight increase in the urinary excretion and concn. of uric acid [69-93-2], without altering the serum uric acid. There was a significant improvement in the urinary Ca oxalate satn. when the 3-g-tid regimen was used, but not the other regimens; the 1-g-qid regimen offered a slightly more beneficial effect than the 1-g-tid regimen. The potential risk of increasing the urinary satn. levels of brushite [14567-92-1], octacalcium phosphate [13767-12-9], magnesium ammonium phosphate [7785-21-9], sodium acid urate [18276-12-5], and ammonium acid urate [18276-11-4] was excluded. CG-120 improved Ca oxalate satn. without causing any adverse effect. .

A correction was made for that Ca which was copptd. with Mg. Total Al2O3 + Fe2O3 was detd. by dissolving 2 g talc in HNO3-HF, evapg. to HClO4 fumes, filtering, making the hot filtrate alk. to Me Red, and igniting the ppt. formed to 1000.degree.. Fe2O3 and CaO were detd. after dissolving 2 g talc in HNO3-HF and heating to HClO4 fumes, by at. absorption spectrometry in an air-C2H2 flame. Al2O3 was detd. by difference. Results are given for 3 high-purity talc samples.
