DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 73 (Optical, Electron, and Mass Spectroscopy and Other Related Properties) Section cross-reference(s): 75 The IR absorption spectra of 3CdSO4.8H2O crystals was recorded at room temp. at 200-400 cm-1. The spectra consist of 4 strong and 2 weak bands. The bands at 3600 and 1620 cm-1 are attributed to the stretching and bending modes of lattice H2O. The other 2 strong bands were assigned to n3 = 1103 and n4 = 610 cm-1 which are the IR active fundamental modes of vibration of SO42-. The other 2 weak bands at 980 and 453 cm-1 were assigned to n1 and n2 modes of the SO42- which apparently are activated by the external perturbations in the lattice. Probably the SO42- in 3CdSO4. 14808-79-8 and 7790-84-3 are just another two chemicals used in this study.8H2O lattice is at a site which is almost a tetrahedron. .
