Thus, LiI was molded, heated in a N stream at 300-400.degree., impregnated with M LiClO4 [7791-03-9]-propylene carbonate, and assembled with a CuF2 cathode and a Li anode by using a nonwoven polypropylene cloth separator. The battery had much higher discharge potential than that made with LiI electrolyte.

When the battery was discharged at -20.degree. and 150 .OMEGA., its terminal potential was .apprx.1.5 V even after 20 h.
