The gaseous product carried by N was trapped by 200 ML boiling xylene. After 6 h of reaction the product in the reactor was dissolved in 200 mL xylene and pptd. with 2 L MeOH to give 54 g polymer having av. mol. wt. 1913, and 2 g polymer having av. mol. wt. 394 was recovered by evapn. of the solvent. The xylene soln. in the trap was evapd. to give 1 g polymer having av. mol. wt. 1880. When the trap was omitted, a similar run gave 3 and 2 g polymer of av. mol. wt. 1239 and 394, resp. .
