- Potato weed control with metribuzin and grass herbicides. Sieczka, Joseph B. (L.I. Hortic. Res. Lab., Cornell Univ., Riverhead, NY 11901, USA). Proc. Annu. Meet. Northeast. Weed Sci. Soc., 41, 110-14 (English) 1987. CODEN: PNWSBF. ISSN: 0078-1703. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) In a 2 yr study the effect of metribuzin [21087-64-9] used alone and in combination with several selective grass herbicides on crop injury and weed control in potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) was studied. As postemergence application rates of metribuzin increased to 0.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 74051-80-2 and 21087-64-9 may be metioned in this study.56 kg/ha injury increased. Foliar injury was greater on the cultivar 'Superior' than on 'Katahdin'. The addn. of DPX-Y6202 [76578-14-8], sethoxydim [74051-80-2] or fluazifop-P-butyl [79241-46-6] did not intensify crop damage. Injury to 'Katahdin' was greater in one year than it was the other. Crop damage was not apparent from postemergence applications of fluazifop-P-Bu at 0.28 kg/ha and sethoxydim at 0.28 kg/ha. DPX-Y6202 caused very slight, but statistically significant, foliar injury in 1985. When metribuzin was used in combination with DPX-Y6202, sethoxydim, and fluazifop-P-Bu, barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) control was either enhanced or was about the same as when metribuzin was used alone. Chem. treatments had no statistically significant effect on tuber yield of 'Katahdin'. Postemergence applications of metribuzin reduced tuber yield of 'Superior'. .

- Combinations of metribuzin and post-emergence grass herbicides for weed control in transplanted tomatoes. Lindgren, C. B.; Ashley, R. A. (Dep. Plant Sci., Univ. Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06268, USA). Proc. Annu. Meet. Northeast. Weed Sci. Soc., 39, 159-62 (English) 1985. CODEN: PNWSBF. ISSN: 0078-1703. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Metribuzin [21087-64-9], alone and in combination with sethoxydim [74051-80-2], fluazifop-butyl [69806-50-4], SC-1084 [89468-96-2], and PP005 [79241-46-6] was evaluated for control of large crabgrass, redroot pigweed, and lambsquarters in transplanted tomatoes. In 1983, acceptable weed suppression and high tomato yields were obtained when the combination of metribuzin, sethoxydim, and crop oil conc. was applied. Similar results were obtained in 1984 although the combination of PP005 and metribuzin resulted in the highest yield. Some of the herbicide treatments caused significant crop injury and redn. in tomato yields were obsd.
