- Controllable reactivity epoxy resin hardeners. Markovitz, Mark (Steam Turbine-Gener. Prod. Div., Gen. Electr. Co., Schenectady, N. Y., USA). Chem. Prop. Crosslinked Polym., [Proc. ACS Symp.], Meeting Date 1976, 49-58. Edited by: Labana, Santokh S. Academic: New York, N. Y. (English) 1977. CODEN: 37DQAJ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) The elec. properties and resistance to hydrolysis of epoxy resins are increased on crosslinking with a combination of an organometallic catalyst and a phenolic accelerator. The reactivity of the epoxy resins was controlled over a broad range by varying the phenolic compd. or its content in the resins. The cured resins had excellent elec. properties at temp. 23-170°, and a high distortion temp. was obsd. after short curing times. Tetraoctylene glycol titanate [5575-43-9], bis(tributyltin) oxide [56-35-9] and Al acetylacetonate [13963-57-0] were used as crosslinking catalysts and bisphenol A [80-05-7], hydroquinone [123-31-9], resorcinol [108-46-3], catechol [120-80-9], salicylaldehyde [90-02-8] and HCHO-phenol copolymer [9003-35-4] were used as crosslinking accelerators for ERL 4221 [25085-98-7], Epon 828 [25068-38-6] and DEN 438 [63957-64-2] as epoxy resins.
