The fate of the N4-acetyl derivs. of the compds. was also monitored. Sulfadimidine [57-68-1] had the slowest oral absorption rate compared to sulfamethoxypyridazine [80-35-3], sulfaphenazole [526-08-9], and sulfanilamide [63-74-1]. Sulfaphenazole was least absorbed. Excretion of the different sulfonamides into the milk was by passive diffusion and was best for the least ionized sulfanilamide followed by sulfadimidine and sulfamethoxypyridazine. The most ionized sulfaphenazole was not found in milk. Sulfanilamide was readily acetylated (and sulfaphenazole to a lesser degree). N4-Acetylsulfanilamide seemed to be actively secreted from blood into milk in the cow. .

For sulfisoxazole [127-69-5], 2 peaks are used for detn: an endothermic peak to det. 30-100 mg, and an exothermic one to det. 6-30 mg. Mean recoveries were 98.5-100.9%. .
