DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 1 A HPLC method for detn. of furazolidone (I) [67-45-8], difurazone (II) [804-36-4], sulfamonomethoxine (III) [1220-83-3], and sulfamethoxine (IV) [651-06-9] in cultured fish was developed. The synthetic antibacterials extd. from the samples were adsorbed on an alumina column and eluted with 20 mL of 95% MeCN as fraction I (nitrofurans) and then with 30 mL of 85% MeCN as fraction II (sulfa drugs). Each fraction was injected into an HPLC column packed with Nucleosil 5C18. Fractions I and II were eluted with MeCN-HOAc-water (.1:30 and .) with detection at 380 and 272 nm, resp. The recoveries of I, II, III, and IV were 95.5-99.7, 84.0-90.0, 96.7-101.3, and 95.3-99.0%, resp. The limit of detection of each drug was 0.03 ppm in the test samples.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 18 (Animal Nutrition) With nitrovin [804-36-4] at 10 or 20 ppm and carbadox [6804-07-5] at 20 ppm, the best results were obtained with carbadox (20 ppm), which resulted in daily wt. gain increase by 17.1% while the feed conversion was imrpoved by 10.0%. The gain was better than the neg. control as well as both nitrovin levels. Of both tested nitrovin doses, 20 ppm was the better, and resulted in daily wt. gain increase by 10.7% and feed conversion improvement by 95.5% compared to the control. Nitrovin at 10 ppm resulted in gain increased by 9.7% and in improvement of feed conversion by 7.1%. The gains of both nitrovin groups were better than the neg. control.
