(Dep. Fish. Wildl. Biol., Colorado State Univ., Fort Collins, CO 80523, USA). Prog. Fish-Cult., 45(3), 164-6 (English) 1983. CODEN: PFCUAY. 16595-80-5 and 804-63-7 which are cas registry numbers are also used here. ISSN: 0033-0779. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 12 Eight protozoacidal compds. were ineffective in destroying I. multifiliis trophozoites encysted in the skin of fishes when administered by hyperosmotic or vacuum infilitration or surfactant immersion procedures. The compds. used were Enheptin [121-66-4], formalin [50-00-0], Furacin [59-87-0], Furoxone [67-45-8], malachite green [569-64-2], methylene blue [61-73-4], quinine sulfate [804-63-7], and Tramisol [16595-80-5]. Histol. studies indicated only superficial penetration of methylene blue into the mucous layer of fish subjected to hyperosmotic infiltration. Enheptin and Tramisol were effective in killing excised trophozoites of I. multifiliis in vitro. .
