The method uses Devarda's alloy, which has a 100% redn. efficiency for NO3- and NO2- for ~2 days. The total concn. of NH4+, NO3-, and NO2- are detd. as NH3 after alkalization of the sample and passing the sample through Devarda's alloy; the total concn. of NH4+ and NO3- are detd. similarly, but using amminobenzenesulfonic acid to mask the presence of NO2-; the concn. of NH4+ is simply detd. after alkalization of the sample. .

Excess K2Cr2O7 was detd. by titrn. with Mohr's salt soln. vs. ferroin indicator. The error was .+-.0.56% in the detn. of 1-10 mg Cu. The method was used to det. Cu in Devarda's alloy and chalcopyrites.Except for chemicals metioned above, 8049-11-4 and 1762-95-4 are also used. .
