- Influence of systemic fungicides, Bavistin and Calixin on Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. leaves. Karadge, B. A.; Karne, A. V. (Dep. Bot., Shivaji Univ., Kolhapur 416 004, India). Biovigyanam, 11(2), 166-8 (English) 1985. CODEN: BIOVDZ. ISSN: 0250-507X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Effect of the fungicides Bavistin (Carbendazim) [10605-21-7] and Calixin (Tridemorph) [81412-43-3] on L. esculentum leaves persisted for 1-2 days altering physiol. of the host plant. Both fungicides caused an increase in the free org. acids, polyphenols, and chlorophyllis in the leaves while total N and proline [147-85-3] contents were decreased in the treated leaves. These fungicides elevated the level of catalase [9001-05-2] and IAA-oxidase [9027-85-4] in the tomato leaves ultimately affecting peroxidase [9003-99-0] and acid phosphatase [9001-77-8].

DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Incubation of red beet disks in 5 ′ 10-4-10-3M tridemorph [7055-03-0], dodemorph [1593-77-7], dodine [2439-10-3], and Quinosan [82-68-8] stimulated intensive leakage of betacyanin from the cells, whereas chloraniformethane [20856-57-9] stimulated the leakage only slightly. Carboxin [5234-68-4], oxycarboxin [5259-88-1], pyrocarbolid [64083-26-7], furcarbanil [28562-70-1], cyclafuramid [34849-42-8], mebenil [7055-03-0], benodanil [15310-01-7], benomyl [17804-35-2], MBC (I) [10605-21-7], thiophanate-methyl [23564-05-8], thiophanate [23564-06-9], WII 0647 (II) [35037-55-9] WII 0648 (III) [35078-30-9], WII 0649 (IV) [35075-34-4], WII 0989 (V) [56025-11-7], Ethirimol [23947-60-6], triarimol [26766-27-8], and triforine [26644-46-2] did not stimulate the leakage of betacyanin. Incubation of disks from bean leaves and sections of barley leaves in tridemorph, dodemorph, Quinosan, and dodine caused leakage of electrolytes. Benomyl and I inhibited electrolyte leakage from bean-leaf disks, caused by BuOH. Tridemorph and dodemorph at 10-4M inhibted the growth in vitro of Verticillium albo-atrum mycelium by 78% and stimulated the leakage of electrolytes from the cells, whereas dodine at 5 ′ 10-6M inhibited the growth by 50% and also stimulated the electrolyte leakage. Ten mg tridemorph, dodemorph, and Quinosan/mL suppressed the growth of Pythium debaryanum mycelium only in the presence of 25-100 mg ergosterol or cholesterol/mL but not in the absence of the sterols. The sensitization of P. debaryanum, (which does not form sterols) to fungicides by the sterols shows that membrane sterols are sites of action of tridemorph, dodemorph, and Quinosan on fungal cells.
