- Effect of the herbicide ametryn on cellulose-decomposing fungi in Egyptian soil
- Effect of the herbicide ametryn on cellulose-decomposing fungi in Egyptian soil. Abdel-Mallek, A. Y.; Moharram, A. M. (Fac. Sci., Assiut Univ., Assiut, Egypt). Folia Microbiol. (Prague), 31(5), 375-81 (English) 1986. CODEN: FOMIAZ. ISSN: 0015-5632. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Ametryn (I) [834-12-8] exerted a depressive effect on the total count of cellulose [9004-34-6]-decompg. fungi after 1 and 3 wk of treatment with a high dose (54 mg active ingredient/kg dry soil), and 5 wk after treatment with medium (27 mg) and high doses. This inhibitory effect was alleviated after 8 wk, whereas after 12 wk it was changed into promotion by a low dose (5.4 mg). When incorporated in the agar medium, this herbicide was toxic to the total count and to the counts of almost all fungal genera and species at the 3 doses (25, 125, 250 ppm). The decompn. of I-treated calico buried in untreated soil was significantly and regularly inhibited by medium and high doses after all exptl. periods. The growth and sporulation of test fungal species were partially or completely inhibited by the 3 doses, except, Asperigillus niger, Chaetomium globosum, and Gliocladium roseum which were not affected by the low dose.
- Effect of herbicides on Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid
- Effect of herbicides on Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. causing charcoal rot of sorghum. Anahosur, K. H.; Patil, S. H.; Hegde, R. K. (Dep. Plant Pathol., Coll. Agric., Dharwad 580 005, India). Pesticides, 18(4), 11-12 (English) 1984. CODEN: PSTDAN. ISSN: 0031-6148. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Ametryne [834-12-8] (2000 ppm) effectively (60.15%) inhibited the growth of M. phaseolina on agar but not in soil samples. 2,4-D, terbutryn, prometryn, and atrazine were ineffective in both media. Thus, all the tested herbicides are ineffective for controlling the charcoal rot of sorghum.
