DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Five antimalarials, amodiaquine [86-42-0], chloroquine [54-05-7], primaquine [90-34-6], trimethoprim [738-70-5], and pyrimethamine [58-14-0] were detd. by spectrophotometry based on interaction of these drugs with any one of the 3 quinones, 2,5-dihydroxy-3-undecyl-1,4-benzoquinone (I) [550-24-3], 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone (II) [615-94-1], and chloranilic acid to yield colored complexes. The absorbance was measured at 520, 500 and 540 nm for I, II and chloranilic acid, resp. I and II are suitable for detn. of all the 5 antimalarial drugs, while chloranilic acid is suitable for detn. of the 1st 4 drugs. Beer's law limits and regression equations and std. deviations are given. .
- Utility of the charge-transfer complex formation for the spectrophotometric determination of some antimalarials
- Utility of the charge-transfer complex formation for the spectrophotometric determination of some antimalarials. Abdel Salam, M.; Issa, A. S.; Lymona, H. (Fac. Pharm., Univ. Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt). J. Pharm.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 54-05-7 and 7553-56-2 are used here. Belg., 41(5), 314-18 (English) 1986. CODEN: JPBEAJ. ISSN: 0047-2166. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) A sensitive and simple spectrophotometric method is described for the assay of some antimalarials. The method is based on the formation of mol. complexes between iodine as a acceptor and the basic drug in CHCl3 soln. Optimum exptl. conditions were selected for estn. of 4 antimalarials: chloroquine [54-05-7], primaquine [90-34-6], amodiaquine [86-42-0] and pyrimethamine [58-14-0] either pure or in their pharmaceutical formulations. Results obtained were accurate and precise. The proposed method is very sensitive and could be used for routine anal. of the investigated antimalarials. .
