I.v. injection of I at 1 and 3 mg/kg dosages both markedly reduced the myocardial infarction induced by ligation of the left anterior descending artery in rabbits. The antimyocardial infarction and related functions of I were similar to those of propranolol, but the effects were less than those of propranolol; the myocardial lactic acid prodn. and K+ regulation effects of I in ligated animals were less than that of propranolol.
