- Quantification of myocardial infarct size by Gd-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging
- Quantification of myocardial infarct size by Gd-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging. Ogawa, Kazuya; Sato, Yuichi; Sakamaki, Tatsuo; Kanmatsuse, Katsuo (2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Nihon University School of Medicine, Tokyo 101, Japan). Nihon University Journal of Medicine, 38(6), 245-253 (English) 1996 Nihon University School of Medicine. CODEN: NUMDAE. ISSN: 0546-0352. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 8 (Radiation Biochemistry) We estd. infarct size (IS) by Gd-DTPA-enhanced MRI using a computer-assisted infarct delineation technique. In 21 patients with anterior myocardial infarction, MRI was performed at 7-10 days after the onset. 86050-77-3 is the cas registry number. This chemical is also mentioned in this article. Ten mm-thick left ventricular short-axis slices were obtained by ECG-gated, multislice T1-weighted imaging. Gadolinium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) was given at 20 min prior to the imaging. All images were recorded on videotape and a 7′7 pixel region of interest was sampled from the center of the Gd-DTPA-enhanced area. The area of the av. signal intensity and its 2 std. deviations was defined as the infarct. The expansion-contraction technique was utilized for smoothing the boundary between the infarct and normal myocardium. The overall infarct size was obtained by summing the infarct sizes of each slice. The peak serum creatine kinase (CK) level and the QRS scoring system were employed as the clin. variables for the infarct size. In all of the study patients, clear delineation of the infarct was obtained. The MRI-estd. IS was significantly correlated to the QRS score (r=0.51) and to the peak CK levels (r=0.86). In conclusion, computer-assisted, quant. anal. of infarct size by Gd-DTPA-enhanced MRI allows accurate estn. of the IS. .
- Gadopentetate dimeglumine and iodinated contrast media
- Gadopentetate dimeglumine and iodinated contrast media. Hemodynamic side effects after bolus injections in pigs.Several substances are used for example 8064-12-8 and 86050-77-3 which are their cas registry numbers. Kuhtz-Buschbeck, Johann P.; Ehrhardt, Kai; Koehnlein, Svenja; Radtke, Wolfgang; Heintzen, Paul (Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Biomedical Engineering, University of Kiel, Kiel D 24098, Germany). Investigative Radiology, 32(2), 111-119 (English) 1997 Lippincott-Raven. CODEN: INVRAV. ISSN: 0020-9996. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 8 (Radiation Biochemistry) The use of bolus injections of contrast media contg. gadolinium for magnetic resonance imaging and their potential use as x-ray absorbents require the evaluation of possible cardiovascular side effects. The hemodynamic reactions of high doses (0.6 mmol/kg) of gadopentetate dimeglumine (gadolinium [Gd]-DTPA, Magnevist) were evaluated and compared with the side effects of ionic (diatrizoate: Urografin 76%) and nonionic (iopamidol, Solutrast 370) radiog. contrast media. In 18 pigs, pressure and flow of the systemic and pulmonary circulation were monitored after intracardiac bolus injections (2-4 s) of dose vols. of 1.2 mL/kg of each contrast agent. All contrast media decreased the aortic pressure transiently (Gd-DTPA and diatrizoate: -25%, iopamidol: -10%; P < 0.01). Pulmonary artery pressure, cardiac output, and stroke vol. increased for several minutes. The vascular resistance declined. Diatrizoate induced stronger and longer-lasting side effects (P < 0.01) than Gd-DTPA and iopamidol. Despite of similar osmolality, Gd-DTPA induced weaker side effects than equivolumetric applications of diatrizoate. Other than osmolality, other factors such as viscosity and chemotoxicity influence the side effects of contrast media. .
