DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Cocoa powder packaged in multiwalled paper sacks and having an intense moldy off-odor and disinfectant aftertaste contained 2,6- [1984-65-2] and 2,4-dichloroanisole [553-82-2], 2,4,6-trichloroanisole [87-40-1], 2,3,4,6-tetrachloroanisole [938-22-7], pentachloroanisole [1825-21-4], 2,6- [87-65-0] and 2,4-dichlorophenol [120-83-2], 2,4,6-trichlorophenol [88-06-2], 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol [58-90-2], and pentachlorophenol [87-86-5] at 3, 20, 2, 0.4, <0.1, 7, 520, 73, 22, and 3 mg/kg, resp. The contaminants migrated from the paper sacking and glued seams of the containers. 2,4-Dichlorophenol was apparently the major contributor to the disinfectant taste.

Elution was done with MeOH. .
