DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Diethofencarb offers a new and an alternative to established fungicides for the control of grey mold of strawberries, B. cinerea. Diethofencarb was coformulated with carbendazim for the control of natural populations of the disease. The coformulation SUMICO, contg. 25.5% diethofencarb and 25.5% carbendazim as a wettable powder, is recommended at 1 kg product per ha for excellent disease control. An alternating spray program with dicarboximides is recommended as a measure to reduce the risk of resistance occurring. Tank mixing with TMTD at a rate of 2 kg/ha is advised for control of Phytophthora cactorum. .

- Clay-catalyzed nitration of a carbamate fungicide diethofencarb. Kodaka, Rika; Sugano, Terumi; Katagi, Toshiyuki; Takimoto, Yoshiyuki (Environmental Health Science Laboratory, Sumitomo Chemical Company, Ltd., Takarazuka 665-8555, Japan). Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 51(26), 7730-7737 (English) 2003 American Chemical Society. Some commonly used reagents like 87130-20-9 and 99068-89-0 are used in this experiment. CODEN: JAFCAU. ISSN: 0021-8561. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Nitration of diethofencarb was examd. in 14 Japanese soils and 3 types of clays under the aerobic conditions using the 14C-labeled compd. Nitration at the 6-position of the 3,4-diethoxyphenyl ring was a clay-catalyzed reaction, enhanced under the dry conditions. Kinetic and product anal. on nitration of 9 14C-labeled carbamate analogs in the kaolinite thin layer showed the nitration proceeding electrophilically. Requirement of mol. oxygen and retardation of nitration by radical scavengers and spin-trap reagents together with semiempirical AM1 MO calcns. strongly suggested contribution of a radical mechanism, and these different speculations on the reaction mechanism might originate from the heterogeneous reaction environment on clay. .
