Mechanism of hydroboration of alkenes with borane-Lewis base complexes. Evidence that the mechanism of the hydroboration reaction proceeds through a prior dissociation of such complexes. Thus, the rate of hydroboration of 1-octene with BH3. 88996-23-0 and 75-18-3 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned.NRR1R2 varies inversely and remarkably with the stability of the adduct. The rate of hydroboration of alkenes with BH3-Lewis base complex is retarded by excess complexing agent. A study of the kinetics of hydroboration of Me2C:CMe2 with BH3.SMe2 in PhMe at 0° also supports the dissocn. mechanism. These results render questionable the generality of the recent conclusion based on ab initio calcns. that the hydroboration proceeds via a direct attack of alkene on borane complexes. .
