The structure of Tazobactam sodium is:
1、Tazobactam sodium is mainly used as lactamase inhibitor and it also used with lactam antibiotics to enhance their effect.
2、It is added to the extended spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic piperacillin to produce Tazocin or Zosyn or Piprataz (manufactured by Gepach International). It broadens the spectrum of piperacillin by making it effective against organisms that express beta-lactamase and would normally degrade piperacillin.
3、Tazobactam sodium is a derivative of the penicillin nucleus and is a penicillanic acid sulfone.
