- The inhibited crystallization of metals with a limited sensitivity to inhibitors. Raub, Ernst; Elser, Franz (Forschungsinst. Edelmet. Metallchem. 10043-35-3 and 9015-54-7 are cas registry numbers. These chemicals are also mentioned in this article., Schwaebisch Gmuend, Ger.). Baender, Bleche, Rohre, 17(12), 520-3 (German) 1976. CODEN: BBROAB. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 72 (Electrochemistry) The low-melting, less inhibitor-sensitive metals Zn, Cd, Sn, and Pb frequently crystallize, during electrolytsis under suitable conditions of electrodeposition, in a decidedly dendritic or coarse-grained and, under certain circumstances, even spongy form. The electrochem. reactions at the cathode and the properties of these (with the exception of Cd which has been extensively studied elsewhere) in the presence of their corresponding electrolytes were investigated. The deposition mechanism of Zn is esp. complex. A marked electrosorption of the active inhibitors is frequently encountered in the case of Sn and Pb. Of special interest for the deposition of Sn-Pb alloys is the generally stronger inhibition of Pb compared to that of Sn under the same conditions of electrodeposition. .
