The exts. were ultrafiltered and concd. to recover proteins having mol. wts. 1000-50,000 daltons. Although the final concs. of both samples contained proteinase-inhibitory activities with electrophoretic mobilities similar to that of Trasylol, only the ext. from the tumor had significant trypsin-inhibitory activity. The activity was present in 3 peaks having apparent mol. wts. of <17,000. .

A thermal treatment (10-180 min at 100%) decreased sharply the TIC of soybean, less so that of horse bean, and least the TIC of corn. The TIC of horse bean was stable against the proteolytic action of pepsin [9001-75-6], whereas that of soybean and corn decreased. A combined action caused a sharp TIC decrease in horse bean (from 5.6 to 0.4 units) and a decrease in corn by a factor of 3.5 (from 0.7 to 0.2 units) only. .
