Si3N4 powder is uniformly dispersed by using alkoxides as sintering aids. Thus, methoxides of Al and Y (5 wt.% as Al2O3 and 3 wt.% as Y2O3, resp.) were added to Si3N4 powder and mixed with EtOH, dried, press-molded, and sintered at 1750° for 1 h in N2 to form a Si3N4 sinter having bending strength 90 kg/cm2 and Weibull coeff. 20, compared to 75 and 8 using Al2O3 and Y2O3 as sintering aids.Except for chemicals metioned above, 7440-65-5 and 90397-40-3 are also used. .
